TaylorandRoyds.com, hand made in Yorkshire, and not that rubbish stuff...

Website Design & Website Management

"Can you build us a website that shows our products are built by real, skilled people in Yorkshire, out of quality metals and material and they ARE built to last. Our stuff isn't that cheap rubbish you can get on internet that lasts a week!" - So guess what we did...
The brief was straight forward, build a site that shows that Taylor & Royds products are far superior to the cheap imported stuff.

Taylor & Royds have been making quality hand crafted security and storage products for over 65 years and as they are based in the heart of Yorkshire it is only fitting that the ideas and design behind the website were based around the steel industrial heritage in this area.

The site gives the feel of the craftsmanship, skill and heritage the company and its products are based on. The site is aimed at instilling the customer with the confidence that what they are buying is of the highest quality, whilst also giving the company its first online presence with the functions of an online shopping cart. The site will result in their products now being available nationwide in the hope that it will lead to a growth in sales and further expansion of the company.

The website has been well received and is already showing its potential as Taylor & Royds were already receiving online contacts while the site was still in live testing days before the official launch...

1st Question North, the Cooperative Hub

Website Design & Website Management

Fun, bright and colourful was the order of the day for the new website for 1st Question North (www.1stquestion.coop), part of the Cooperative Training and Facilitation Hub.
The brief of the site was simple... "We don't want one of those boring, corporate looking sites...!"

1st Question North is one half of a national Cooperative site, the other half being 1st Question East and both residing under the URL www.1stquestion.coop

The aim of the site is on Training and Facilitation in either the North or East of the country. So we had to come up with a simple concept to firstly split the two sites, North or East, then, as these sites were aimed to point visitors in the right direction, whether it be training, education or just further information, a different yet simple and creative navigation was needed. We came up with the idea of using the simple iconic countryside sign posts, as this was relevant to the directions to be taken. This along with an array of bright and vivid colours and simple illustrative artwork we were able to create a site that appealed to both young and old with a fun feeling, but kept as far away from the normal boring sites as requested in the original brief.

The site has been a big success and future plans, features and expansion are already being talked and planned...

"l have two things to say about the website that the team at Wilson Design House have developed for 1st Question North... love the way it looks.... and l love the way it works. They have managed to capture the essence of our business visually and given us functionality which encourages you to explore. l have been able to explain how l want things in the most basic of layman’s language and get back things in a language l understand and in a positive way, Wilson Design House always talk about what we can do and never about what we can’t... and that in what can be a world of techno geeks is something which is priceless..."

Working together to achieve national success!

Working together to achieve national success!

We are proud to announce that the Stronger Neighbourhoods Initiative for New Lodge and Athersley (SNI) have achieved national recognition after collecting two prestigious awards at the National Neighbourhood Management Awards 2009. Our very own designers Heather and Leanne, who have worked closely with the team over the past few years, helping them on the road to success were delighted to be invited along to offer their support and of course join in with the celebratory drinks!
The awards were picked up for 'Best Community Safety Initiative' for the innovative use of Community Liaison Wardens who work closely with young people and adults to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime and the biggy of the evening 'National Neighbourhood Management Team of the Year'. Judges commended the impact which the SNI had achieved in a short time by reducing anti-social behaviour by 90% and crime by 61% in just over two years.

We have been working with the SNI to produce numerous successful campaigns, such as the Clean and Tidy Agreement, Healthy Living Pack and Residential Pack, plus regular Newsletters, all aimed at bringing the community together, informing them of the services available and making the local area a better place to work and live.

“This is a fantastic recognition of the hard work of the past three years. This is not just an award for the SNI team but for the wider team of residents, services and local councillors who have worked with us to bring about the impact we’ve had. I would like to say a huge `thank you’ to everyone involved.’’

Kate Faulkes - SNI Neighbourhood Manager

"I just wanted to make sure you know how chuffed we are with the products – and how generally chuffed and lucky we are to have a local business on our doorstep that can produce such great quality work.”

Marcia Haigh - SNI Neighbourhood Development Officer

Maximum Cooling with
Maximum Online Exposure!

www.mcsairconditioning.co.uk

Maximum Cooling Services bring in the new year with the launch of their sparkling brand new, fresh and no nonsense website www.mcsairconditioning.co.uk. Months of dedicated planing and design has gone into the building and functionality of their new approach to the online air-conditioning market.
Rob approached us after talking to a few other web companies with a clear idea of what he wanted from the site... to create a no nonsense website that will help his company stand out above the rest!

The ideas, functions and attack plan behind the site was quite simple. To create a site that was simple to use; Offer a clear, fresh and new approach to the 'industrial' air-conditioning market that would appeal to clients, both experienced and inexperienced in the field; But above all, show that Maximum Cooling Services can deal with all the areas of the designing, installing, maintenance and servicing all types of air-conditioning. Be it a simple question about a blown fuse or what system would suit best, to a full technical energy saving cost and system specification.

The finished site has created a positive outlook for the future of the business, and along with the online marketing running along side, it is already bringing in new clients, day-in and day-out!

"Having contacted many web design business I found Wilson Design to be the worst out of them all they were slow to design the new site and had to keep chasing for the site to be uploaded. the price kept going up and my messages were never replied to my advice would be to KEEP WELL AWAY!

ONLY JOKING - Wilson Design were very professional on all levels, the information received was to a high standard and my input was appreciated. the price was very good within these difficult economic times and the professional approach was excellent. i would recommend any large or small company to Wilson with the knowledge that they will get value for money."

Insignia's Promotional Success...

Insignia's Promotional Success...

Insignia are one of the members of Promotional Union; they approached Wilson Design House after receiving the latest Promotional Union Catalogue 2010 that they had successfully designed.

Senior Designer Heather travelled down to Surrey to meet the new Clients and discuss the design ideas.

In the meeting Heather listened to the problems they had encountered with the previous design and what they wanted to achieve with their new catalogue. Insignia’s main objective was to promote and launch the new identity they had for the website and create a fresh new approach.

Heather gave suggestions and ideas as to how they could incorporate the new identity into the brochure and how they could improve the selling ability through the design.

We worked with their web designer who had created the new identity to introduce a colour pallet from which we would base the catalogue colour scheme. We then designed the look of the brochure introducing best seller and new products to the pages. Once the design was approved Insignia emailed and posted images and text for each product. As promotional catalogues use many different suppliers all the images have to be adjusted, which entails changing the colour, size and where applicable removing the backgrounds.

The working deadline was very intense, after the first week only half of the brochure was complete. We had one more week to reach the deadline, after a lot of late nights, the deadline was met and the artwork was sent to print.

"The design was fantastic and even the printers commented how nice it was to see such a nice product. A big thank you for staying up until gone midnight to meet such a tight deadline. It was very much appreciated. It is a shame you are not able to see the brochure until after Christmas. It really is fantastic. We are all very pleased we used you for this brochure and feel that it was a vast improvement over previous years.”

Bespoke Approach to Annual Review

Bespoke Graphic Design Work

We had a meeting with all the members and staff from the Barnsley LINk. The members range between the ages of 50 and 80 years old. Each member told us what they wanted from their annual review in order to make it easy to follow and understandable, but more importantly they wanted something different that they could keep and refer back to during the year.

After our meeting various sketches from the members were taken away and the initial concept of a wall-hung pouch containing various informational inserts was created. We gave it a bright and bold look to appeal to all ranges and abilities, using larger text on the inserts for easier reading as some of the members had poor eye sight.

A calendar was placed at the front with red highlighted dots to indicate where and when meetings were to be held to aid forgetful members. This coincided with dates listed on one of the leaflet inserts. As it was a wall hung pack incorporating a calendar and bespoke shaped inserts, we made it strong and durable fulfilling the members’ desires of having something different that will last the whole year. Our clients were highly delighted with the outcome.

“Just wanted to say thanks to you both for all your hard work on this. It is absolutely brilliant - Carrianne and I love it and I am sure all the LINk members will too. You have both been very helpful and patient with us and we really appreciate that - somehow you have managed to make doing this an enjoyable experience and Carrianne and I are very proud of the outcome.

Thanks very much"

Jablite Re-Launches their
Online Technical Website

Jablite.co.uk

Jablite customers can now find all the information, spec-sheets, installation details, technical drawings and downloads and much more online to help them with their chosen EPS requirements, be it for an architect, a builder, a DIY'er or just for general reference.
After some lengthy meetings, many telephone and email discussions and several off-line design approaches to who the website would be aimed at and how the website will function we came up with the initial concept. The birth of the new Jablite Online Technical Guide was born!

The first stage of the rebuild and design was set around the EPS Insulation sector, as this was the largest online area containing the most technical specifications.

Several months of work went into this part of the site, which involved answering many questions head on about the site which only arose through online testing, over and over again.

Once complete, and we were all happy with the functionality, look and feel of the site we then moved onto the rest of the sectors Jablite covers.

The day came to launch the site to the world, and with our breaths held, we sent out the launch email to the masses! As we all hoped would happen, the site was immediately welcomed by the users and has become a great success.

The site is forever changing as new products are continuously released, details and specifications are updated and improved and with all the feedback we receive, we constantly try to improve and test the site to ensure all the visitors have a positive experience when they visit the website.

We're all Wednesday!

Sheffield Wednesday

We recently pitched along with 5 other design agencies in the area and won the contract to work with the areas leading football club Sheffield Wednesday.
Asked afterwards why us Dan told us “we felt confident that you would be able to deliver what you said you could and you wouldn’t let us down, you were also more realistic and could bring more to the table than the other agencies”

Since then the work we have done for the club has been great fun to work on.

From locker room photo shoots for the latest Mega Store and sales catalogues through to advertising for various functions and events. One of our latest was the poster campaign promoting the Half Season Ticket which can be seen on the side of the Kop and throughout programmes throughout the stadium.

"We are really happy with the service we have received and the standard of design is even better than expected, we made the right choice"

Double Choc Chip... Yes Please!

Whites Cookies

After reading an article we published recently, we were approached by David White from Whites bakery to brand and help promote a new Cookie range.
The design had to reflect the brand as a luxury cookie using only natural ingredients. The range are now being tested throughout the region at various outlets, before being run out to over 200 outlets throughout the country.

Straightforward, Clear & Easy to Use

Healthy Living Guide

We have been working closely with The Stronger Neighbourhood Initiative and have completed two packs designed to provide residents of New Lodge and Athersley with straightforward information about the services and community activities that are available locally. The pack has now been hand delivered to every household across the area.
The Second pack is a guide as a Guide to Healthy Living and has been designed to provide practical tips to help residents make healthy lifestyle choices.

"Both the packs have been really well received, we are so lucky to have found a company that we can work so well with. We never expected the packs to look this good. Everyone asks where we had them done. Thank you."
